What is a WRAEE Conference?
This conference is geared toward educators, teachers, counselors, outdoor guides, environmental educators, camp leaders, group facilitators and anyone interested in experiential methodology. Experiential education is a philosophy and methodology in which educators purposefully engage with learners through direct experiences and reflection in order to increase knowledge, develop skills and clarify values.
About Conference Logo
This logo was originally handcrafted by brush pen in a traditional Chinese calligraphy style. Our inspiration derives from Taoism where Tao can be interpreted as way/road/path/approach, denoting an ultimate force that generates and changes things that exist. We regard Experiential Education as the essential education path, which creates positive changes that transform lives.
The graphic design distorts from the form of Yin and Yang, the universal symbol of Taoism. The blue color represents experiential educators, while the green color represents all experiential learning participants. The interaction between blue and green areas is designed to give the appearance of movement-positive change, which is represented by red and yellow color.
The circle (experiential education) itself represents a whole, where blue (educators), green (participants), yellow and red(positive changes), in alternation, become each the source of the other. This circle delivers a reciprocal relationship between three elements- experiential educators, participants, and transformative experiences.
All four colors rise towards up-right, symbolizing POSITIVE changes other than any random movement.
