West Region Conference Summary
 -  by Dr. Christian M. Itin, MSW; AEE West Region Co-Chair

The west region held a successful conference on the weekend of February 29-March 2.  Eighty-Eight people joined together in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains at Sly Park Environmental Education Center for conversation, dialogue, shared experiences, exciting workshops, and thought provoking addresses. Our wine dinner on Friday night was a great beginning to our conference and wonderful financial success and was followed by a fun evening of bowling. Twenty-six wonderful workshops explored the full range of experiential methodologies and the many fields that use the philosophy of experiential education. All this linked together though our theme of sustainability. Our silent and ticket auctions were a rousing success (with our backpack full of wine, raising close to $500 for our scholarship fund). The music on Saturday night provided by our conference convener Hunter Merritt, provided us with wonderful beats to dance , chant, and belly dance to (belly dancing has become an annual part of the west conference). We are already beginning to plan for next year's conference and we hope you will consider joining us!
