Program Highlights
Keynote: Dr. Gerald A. Lieberman
We are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Gerald A. Lieberman as our keynote speaker on Saturday night. Dr. Lieberman is an internationally recognized authority on school improvement using natural and community surroundings as interdisciplinary contexts for education. He recently led the development of the innovative educational strategy called EIC, using a school's local Environment as the Integrating Context for learning. Over the past 26 years, Dr. Lieberman has created and conducted professional development programs for more than 9,000 educators and other professionals, working with formal education systems at local, state, national and international levels.
Friday Night Speaker: Shawn Harrison
During the Friday Night Wine dinner Shawn will share his thoughts on sustainability as it relates to food. Mr. Harrison is the founder and director of Soil Born Farm Urban Agriculture Project, an urban organic farm and education center located in Sacramento, CA. Through its urban farms and associated programs, Soil Born Farms works to create a more sustainable and equitable food system for the Sacramento region. Mr. Harrison has been directly involved in the development of sustainable food systems and healthier communities since 1993. He was born in Sacramento and continues to reside there.
Opening Speaker: Sedrick Mitchell from CA State Parks
Sedrick Mitchell from California Sate Parks will be our opening speaker. Sedrick Mitchell is the Deputy Director of External Affairs, for the California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), where he is responsible for overseeing the general operations of the Office of Grants and Local Services, the Office of Human Rights, the Office of Statewide Recruitment, the Legislation Office, and the Office of Community Involvement.
Playnotes: Tanya Aghazarian, Beth Dekker, Hunter Merritt and Joc

This year we have not one, but two Playnotes planned. First on Saturday we will be treated to the infectious energy of Tanya and Beth. What a great way to start the day. On Sunday Hunter and Joc will share will us there extensive knowledge in the art of play. You do not want to miss these two opportunities to learn, laugh and play.
Saturday Lunch Speaker: Phil Romig
Join us for lunch and a presentation from Phil Romig is principal at Sly Park Environmental Education Center. Phil oversees Sly Park’s environmental education program which serves 8,000 students a year, teaching kids about the world in which they live.
Sunday Closing Speaker: Alan Jolley
Alan has been an outdoor educator and rock guide since 1982. He has trained and certified hundreds of aspiring rock guides and is the author of 2 instructional climbing videos. He lives in Colorado, off the grid, in a passive solar house he constructed of trash. During Lunch on Sunday he will talk about "Sustainable Home Construction: Leaving a Little Trace"
